The 2nd_down gets a new playbook for 2012. We lowered the entry rocker a touch, moved the wide point up slightly and widened the nose and tail block. The forward concave in the bottom was deepened and we added double concave through the fins...the result was the small wave game changer! With an optional 5 fin box configuration, you can really dial into the conditions. With the deepened concave and wider outline, you can really go small and still retain a lot of stability and paddle power for small surf. The wider tail block helps loosen the fin hold for radical shredding as well as cornering more water off the block for massive spray. Go 4-6''shorter than your normal shortboard and 1/2-3/4'' wider.

He loves the West Coast Offense Series of boards...They fit his program...4 distinct shredding step down shortboards for unique conditions....the 1st_N_10 as well as the 4th_N_Goal, are slight step downs (2'' shorter than your normal board) The 1st_N_10 is a single concave bottom and is Mikes go to board for most all conditions...
And the 4th_N_goal is a single concave to spiral VEE bottom for those carvier or choppier conditions. The sickest WCO boards are the 2nd Down and the 3rd_N_Long. The 2nd_Down is a super step down(4-6 inches shorter than your normal stick) and is a wide hip square with a deep single to double...its for radical small wave surfing. The 3rd_N_Long is a "step down lovers" board for "real" waves. Now we aren't saying you can ride a 3rd_n_Long at Mavs or nothin, but, when you got 2 weeks of small stuff under your belt on your favorite stubby and the swell finally hits, the 3rd_n_Long is that perfect "stubby like" board that can handle double overhead grinders!

Together they are the WEST_COAST_OFFENSE...a four board series for overall sickness!

I've known C Wach for a long time...I actually used to change the kids diapers!

When it was time to design that all around shredder for summer, I looked no further. I am a big fan of Christians surfing. Bottom line, there is nobody out there who can go to OZ and sweep the best noseriders off there feet, dominate some weird finless contest, shred on some weird egg shapes, and then show up out of nowhere at riviera and turn heads on a proper thruster. His surfing and attitude is inspiring and infectious. We have been working together for a while now on shapes and designs for his own label; Canvas Surfboards, which I am proud to shape. Now we finally collaborated on a shred machine-the C R I P C H I P. An all around performance board, the C H I P is ready for anything from slightly overhead to knee high. The wider curvy outline has a slightly forward wide point which makes paddle power and overall stability insane. The single wing with a tight swallow serves as a distinct pivot point for turns and pulls the tail in rapidly for overall raddness. We finish her off with a deep straight swallow and a chop cutting extreme exit vee that transitions from a deep forward single concave bottom.

The result is a user friendly well traveled shredder that can blow up in all conditions....

Franzo has a very large core and he knows how to use it...He claims he's 190, but I shape him boards like he's 220! This sled is his signature Masters model....generous nose outline, single concave to exit vee with a subtle double bump swallow tail. Engineered for old fashion carves. Board pictured above (surf/studio) is 6'2''19''2.44'' and look how small he makes it look.

2011 Los Dos Prototype....

With the popularity and inspiration of the wide square tails of the mini Simmons twin,

the Los Dos gets a fresh look. We added a slight single concave under the front foot to help with rail rocker curve transition to the spiral vee off the block. the front half of the Dos has a normal crowned deck and narrower nose to help with proper pocket snaps. the back half has a wider block with a "square-back" tail and a thinner step rail with the same deck concave on the back foot. Excited to see how it goes!
